Okay folks, it’s time to see this lawmaker, Mr. David Marsten, for what he really is, a hater of the Second Amendment and all that it represents. As a matter of fact, his e-mail to Joanna Johnson-Smith on February 22nd, 2013 was so offensive and degrading, we contemplated putting his quotes on the site today. Make no mistake folks, there are some twisted individuals in this country who think they can lash out with these terrible remarks and get away with it. Although we believe Mr. Marsten will most definitely get what he deserves in the next election, it still needs to be stated just what kind of person we’re dealing with here.
This e-mail transaction contained words from Marsten that included, “Its really neat that all you gun toting tea party psychotards are so interested in the goings on of our little City”. Marsten didn’t stop there though. Unfortunately, this was merely the beginning of his little rant that was meant to insult beyond the boundaries of a heated argument. No, Mr. David Marsten took it much farther. “On the other hand, I guess its not surprising, considering you ideologues aren’t interested in actual policy, but rather grandstanding on mythical narratives of victimization.” We should note that the reason for the hate mail was due to an earlier e-mail request from Johnson-Smith requesting he reject a city proposal to ban all guns on city property. In the original e-mail Johnson-Smith noted that “Patriotic Americans are incensed over the State and Federal attempts to disarm law-abiding Americans and spit on the Constitution.” To which Marsten replied “Two things: The only spit here is the white stuff frothing on the ends of that rotten little mouth of yours from which you spew this hateful ignorant trash. The rabid ignorance of the fringe is best illustrated by its sad metaphors, I mean seriously, thank you for the laughs.” Marsten went on to say in conclusion that “any effort to protest the vote would be a welcome chance to beat you barbarians back with the clubs of reason & responsibility, radical lunatics that you are.” At this point Mr. Marsten should have realized he had gone way too far. Instead he kept it up by taking to another level. “And say, a quick Pro Tip, since you’re the ‘organizer’ for unemployed guns nuts USA. Next time you think these unhinged rants will change the mind of anyone who has even a modicum of intelligence, you might instead just go back down into your basement and watch another episode of wheel-of-fortune. It’ll certainly be just as effective. Remember: there are millions of Eagle Scout God Worshiping Patriots who find you & your radical ilk as disgraceful to American Democracy as the Brown Shirt jackboots you act like. I happen to be just one of them. Good Luck.” Marsten gloated.
Now I don’t know what part of the world Mr. Marsten is from. I can only assume he was born and raised in New York, since that’s where his seat is. There is one thing I know for sure, if this man used this kind of language down here in the south, he would most definitely be a touted as one who has no respect for anyone. We’re not aiming to say that southerners are any different than northerners, but if I spoke to anyone like that I would be ashamed of myself. This New York Lawmaker gives himself, as well as his constituents, a bad, bad name. As a matter of fact, anyone who doesn’t attempt to distance him/herself from this person is clearly saying that they condone his behavior. No Mr. Marsten, you are not excused. Not only did you embarrass and humiliate yourself, but you did so on a grand scale that deserves the recognition you were obviously seeking as a result. We at GRFA are officially against you and your hating, filthy comments that are an embarrassment to your office and your voters. It’s a shame that this sort of thing usually goes unpunished. You should be ashamed of yourself Mr. Marsten.
